Dear Neighbor,

It’s the end of a successful year of growth at West Mt. Airy Neighbors (WMAN). We had an increase in membership, attendance at our events, and in the number of neighbors wanting to be involved in our work. We’ve held community meetings on safety, transportation, new development and we look forward to increasing communication with neighbors in 2018. Thank you to all who renewed their membership this year. To our new members, we offer a heartfelt welcome and thank you for joining us. In preparation for your year-end giving please consider a gift to WMAN in support of the following:
WMAN needs you to address zoning and other quality of life issues in our neighborhood.
Your support ensures that WMAN can work on issues that affect your quality of life. We field many calls about abandoned or blighted properties, neighbor disputes, and safety issues. We work closely with our zoning board, local police, L&I, and Philadelphia City Council to address neighbors’ concerns.

WMAN needs you so we can continue to support our local public schools.
WMAN cares about our public schools and understands the importance of ensuring their continued strength, especially as we transition from the SRC to local school board control. As a member of the Mt. Airy School’s Coalition, we work closely with our sister organization, East Mt. Airy Neighbors, and Mt. Airy USA to support our local schools. Your contribution allows WMAN to be an active participant in fundraising, capacity and relationship building, early childhood literacy, and the ongoing schoolyard revitalization projects.

WMAN needs you so we can continue to beautify the neighborhood.
WMAN’s Streetscapes Committee worked for many years to restore and enhance the beautiful structures at the corner of Lincoln Drive and Johnson Street, a wonderful and welcoming presence to our neighborhood. Streetscapes is also known for its biannual tree planting events resulting in more than 25 new trees in 2017, planted by a dedicated corps of volunteers.

We depend on you.
When we add up all of our activities and effort, it’s clear that none of this could happen without you. Our members and generous donors place WMAN in the center of our neighborhood, playing an important role in keeping West Mt. Airy strong and vibrant. We have filled that space for more than 50 years. We have some exciting things planned for 2018. We’ll have a fresh new look as we roll out our new logo in the spring. Save the date for our annual “Eat Your Heart Out” event on April 14, and Mt. Airy Day on May 5, 2018.

Please consider giving generously to West Mt. Airy Neighbors this year. Your contribution to WMAN’s annual giving campaign is 100% tax deductible. Thank you in advance for your support. We wish you and your loved ones a peaceful and hopeful holiday season.
