It is the end of a very successful, spirited and sometimes challenging year in the neighborhood. Thank you all so much for another year of support. Thank you to all who renewed their membership this year and continue to support WMAN and our events. To our new members, we offer a heartfelt welcome and we would love to hear from you anytime. In preparing for your year-end giving we respectfully suggest that you consider some of the following reasons to support your Neighborhood Association.
WMAN needs you so that we can monitor and address the quality of life in our neighborhood.
Your financial support ensures that WMAN is able to identify issues in the community that affect your quality of life. There are many calls fielded about abandoned or blighted properties. Your support allows us to work closely with L&I, Philadelphia City Council and Mt. Airy USA, CDC to resolved neighbors’ concerns. We have also reestablished community meetings and plan to hold them quarterly. We had a meeting in November regarding the development at 6600 – 6610 Germantown Ave. The next Community Meeting is being planned for January 2017. The topic will be parking and alternative forms of transportation.
WMAN needs you so we can continue to support our local public schools.
WMAN cares about our public schools and understands the importance of ensuring their continued strength, even in light of the multi-year budget crisis of the Philadelphia School District. WMAN works very closely with our sister organization, East Mount Airy Neighbors (EMAN), and Mt. Airy USA, CDC to provide support to our local schools as a member of the Mt. Airy Schools Coalition. Your contribution allows WMAN to be an active participant in the areas of assisting schools in fundraising capacity and relationship building, early childhood literacy and the ongoing schoolyards revitalization projects.
WMAN’s Streetscapes Committee worked for many years to restore and enhance the beautiful structures at the corner of Lincoln Drive and Johnson Street.
They are a wonderful welcoming presence to our neighborhood. Streetscapes is also known for its biannual tree planting events each year resulting in more than 30 new trees in 2016 that were planted by a dedicated corps of volunteers.
We depend on you
When all of our activities and efforts are added up, it is apparent that without you, none of this could happen. Our members and our generous donors place WMAN in the center of our neighborhood, playing an important role in keeping West Mount Airy strong and vibrant. We have fulfilled that role for more than 50 years. As 2017 approaches, WMAN is poised to offer some new community events and initiatives to ensure that we are meeting the needs of all of West Mount Airy residents.
Please consider giving generously to West Mount Airy Neighbors this year. You can select a level of giving ($1,000; $500; $250; $100 or whatever works for you) by going to our website,
www.wman.net, or by mailing your check to WMAN in the enclosed envelope. Your contribution to WMAN’s annual giving campaign is 100% tax deductible.
Thank you in advance for your support of West Mount Airy Neighbors. We wish you and your loved ones a peaceful and hopeful holiday season.
