Streetscapes Committee Keeps it Green and Beautiful

West Mt. Airy Neighbors' Streetscapes Committee has planted over 300 trees, beautified countless streets and open spaces, kept us all breathing more easily, and started the restoration of the Mt. Airy Gateway Pergola. To request a tree, find out about projects in your area, or donate to the Gateway Fund check the links below:

WOULD ADDING SOME STREET TREES MAKE YOUR BLOCK MORE SHADY AND BEAUTIFUL?

If the answer is 'yes' please contact the WMAN Streetscapes Committee for an application for street trees.
Trees are free of charge and supplied through the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society's Bare Root Street TreePlanting Program. They are planted by trained Tree Tender volunteers.
Residents are responsible for their care and are given instructions on how to do so.
The Committee is continuing a twice yearly street tree planting tradition that began in November 2007 and has added 373 new trees to our community's streets.

It was all Sun & Fun for the 1st Annual WMAN BlocktoberFest

Hundreds of neighbors turned out for the BlocktoberFest festivities on October 6th.  The 5-Mile Run was completed in record time; the 2-Mile Run was won by a 11-year old; the 2-Mile Walkers formed a new friendship bond; and a 71-year old completed the 5-Mile Walk while enjoying every step of the way!

The BlocktoberFest Parties carried on all afternoon and each had their own special flair. There was the "neighbor-wood" party at Allens Lane & Lincoln Drive where we feasted on delicious homemade goodies and cider while celebrating the newly restored trailhead and the end of the water main construction.  The Wellesley folks spent the morning raking leaves and beautifying their blocks before their yummy barbeque.  An inter-generational impromptu concert broke out as the Wayne Avenue, Springer Street and Burnham Road neighbors got together with their violins, cellos, flutes, guitars and drums. Lots of good food, drinks, kids, games and conversation on Upsal Street. And lots more! Photos here!

Everybody who came out was a big winner in the category of Fun with Friends.
