WMAN Annual Meeting
The WMAN annual meeting last Tuesday the 10th was a wonderful affair honoring "Partners for Progress" whose work builds our community: Zakiyyah Abdul-Raheem, Executive Director of East Mt. Airy Neighbors; Heather Pierce, President of Carpenter’s Woods Town Watch; Kathryn McKenzie and Todd Perry, Mt. Airy Day 2008 Co-Chairs; Brian Hester, President, Duval Improvement Association; Susan Beetle, WMAN’s volunteer bookkeeper/financial manager; Herb Rothe Jr. and Herb Rothe III, Rothe Florists, which is celebrating 100 years in Mt. Airy, Greg Moore and the Henry Centennial Committee which organized the C.W. Henry School Centennial.

WMAN members voted on the slate of officers and directors for 2008/2009. Click here to review the slate and to read short bios of new Board members. WMAN's Strategic Planning Committee also previewed the draft plan which will guide WMAN's work for the next 5 years.

Transit Update
Germantown Avenue Reconstruction Project Update
Germantown Avenue will close between Cresheim Road and the northernmost entrance to Trolley Car Diner on Monday, January 21st. Traffic will be detoured to Stenton Avenue.

Mt. Airy Safety Network Website East and West Mt. Airy Neighbors have launched a new, joint Mt. Airy Safety Network Website. This is intended to be a useful resource for all Mt. Airy residents, with sections on how to report a crime, resources for block captains, and a crime map based on reporting from the Mt. Airy Times Express. Check it out at mtairysafetynetwork.org.

WMAN Looking for "Virtual Block Captains" Do you or one of your neighbors maintain an email list of the residents on your block? If so, please sign up as a "virtual block captain," distributing safety alerts and other information to your neighbors. We are seeking to recruit one person from each block in all of West Mt. Airy. Airy Safety Alerts, which are sent periodically to give you information about public safety and crime.
We have divided West Mt. Airy into 14 zones. Safety Alerts are most often sent to just a couple of zones, and concern issues which are concentrated in one part of the community. To find out what zone you live in, click here.
