It was a Great Day in the Neighborhood!
The 42nd annual Mt. Airy Day on Saturday, May 5th was a huge success. While the cloudy weather may have kept some away, the thousands who attended were treated to a full day of food, fun, entertainment and fellowship in true Mt. Airy style. Co-hosted each year by East Mt. Airy Neighbors and West Mt. Airy Neighbors, the free community event brings together people of all ages and backgrounds in a festival atmosphere with vendors selling all types of wares and delicious food; information booths to keep everyone informed and healthy; entertainment by professional groups, up and coming talent, and youth-in-training; and a wide range of activities including a rock-climbing wall, pony rides and crafts. Our 8th District Councilwoman, Cindy Bass, was there to respond to neighbors' questions; the 14th District Police Department and Para-medics kept everyone safe; and our dedicated committee of volunteers under the leadership of chairperson Janet Amato made sure that it was an enjoyable day for everyone.
