Morris Arboretum


The Morris Arboretum of the University of Pennsylvania
is an interdisciplinary center that integrates art, science and the humanities. Thousands of rare and lovely woody plants, including some of Philadelphia's oldest, rarest, and largest trees, are set in a romantic, 92-acre, Victorian landscape garden of winding paths, streams, flowers and special garden areas.


Every Saturday from November through March at 10:30 a.m., you  can participate in a Winter Wellness Walk through the Arboretum.  Walks are free with regular Arboretum admission.  In case of inclement weather, please call (215) 247-5777.   More...

Ned Wolf Park


This park is named after Ned Wolf who served as President of West Mt. Airy Neighbors from 1971-1973.  In 1974, after heading the Philadelphia Division of the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Under Law that found significant social change cases and passed them to major firms for pro-bono representation, Wolf founded the Public Interest Law Center of Philadelphia and served as the first Executive Director.  Wolf passed away in 1977 and the park was named after him in 1979.

Wissahickon Valley Park

Wissahickon Valley Park is part of Fairmount Park, Philadelphia's 9,200-acre park system, one of the largest in the world.  Peace and tranquility just minutes from home.  Walk, jog, bicycle, horseback ride on the trails along Wissahickon Creek.  Take time to feed the ducks and geese or enjoy a meal in the 18th century Valley Green Inn.  Visit the Wissahickon Environmental Center and check out their programs and activities. 

Friends of the Wissahickon works to preserve the natural beauty and wilderness of the Wissahickon Valley and stimulate public interest therein.

FreeStepping

FreeStep is a modern partner dance, similar to swing or salsa, but without the complex footwork.  You can FreeStep every Thursday evening at The Irish Center on 6815 Emlen Street in West Mt. Airy.  Doors open at 7 p.m. and the beginner's lesson commences at 7:30 p.m.

The mission of the Mt. Airy Bantams Youth Association is "to firmly implant in the youth of our community the principles of good character, sportsmanship, leadership and high educational objectives. Mt. Airy Baseball

This year, Mt. Airy Baseball celebrates 25 years.  Dozens of volunteers have helped the program grow to include more than 625 children playing on 45 teams in five age divisions.

Philadelphia School of Circus Arts

 

 

The Philadelphia School of Circus Arts' curriculum features aerials (static trapeze, corde lisse, aerial silks and lyra), juggling, unicycling, tightwire, tumbling and physical conditioning.   Take a class or participate in corporate or institutional team-building and leadership workshops.  Students of all ages and levels welcome.
